Welcome back!
So far, we’ve learned greetings, numbers, pronouns, verbs, and how to ask questions.

⏰ 3. Telling the Time

Hours

  • 1 o’clock → ਇੱਕ ਵਜੇ (ikk vajay)
  • 2 o’clock → ਦੋ ਵਜੇ (do vajay)
  • 3 o’clock → ਤਿੰਨ ਵਜੇ (tinn vajay)

Minutes

  • 3:15 → ਤਿੰਨ ਪੌਣੇ ਚਾਰ (tinn paune chaar) → “Quarter to four” style
  • 3:30 → ਤਿੰਨ ਸਵਾ ਤਿੰਨ (saḷaa tin) — actually said “saḷaa tinn” for 3:15 and “saḍe tinn” for 3:30
  • 3:45 → ਤਿੰਨ ਪੌਣੇ ਚਾਰ (tinn paune chaar) → literally “three quarters to four”

💡 Note: Punjabi often uses quarterhalf, and three-quarter expressions instead of exact minutes.
