Today, we’ll focus on time — because whether you’re planning a trip, meeting a friend, or talking about your day, time words are essential.

🗓 1. Days of the Week in Punjabi

💡 Tip: Punjabi days end with -ਵਾਰ (vaar), meaning “day.”

📅 2. Months of the Year in Punjabi (Western Calendar)

⏰ 3. Telling the Time

Hours

• 1 o’clock → ਇੱਕ ਵਜੇ (ikk vajay)
• 2 o’clock → ਦੋ ਵਜੇ (do vajay)
• 3 o’clock → ਤਿੰਨ ਵਜੇ (tinn vajay)

Minutes

• 3:15 → ਤਿੰਨ ਪੌਣੇ ਚਾਰ (tinn paune chaar) → “Quarter to four” style
• 3:30 → ਤਿੰਨ ਸਵਾ ਤਿੰਨ (saḷaa tin) — actually said “saḷaa tinn” for 3:15 and “saḍe tinn” for 3:30
• 3:45 → ਤਿੰਨ ਪੌਣੇ ਚਾਰ (tinn paune chaar) → literally “three quarters to four”

💡 Note: Punjabi often uses quarter, half, and three-quarter expressions instead of exact minutes.

Example 1:

• English: Today is Monday.
• Punjabi: ਅੱਜ ਸੋਮਵਾਰ ਹੈ। (Ajj somvaar hai.)

Example 2:

• English: My birthday is in June.
• Punjabi: ਮੇਰਾ ਜਨਮਦਿਨ ਜੂਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ। (Mera janamdin joon vich hai.)

Example 3:

• English: The meeting is at 5 o’clock.
• Punjabi: ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਪੰਜ ਵਜੇ ਹੈ। (Meeting panj vajay hai.)
